Tropical island on The Emerald Coast? Sure, we could handle that! It was the perfect paradise after spending a week in the bustling, albeit grimy streets of the city – more on that soon! … More A vida lenta: Taking it easy on Ilha Grande, Brazil

From larceny to love in Jericoacoara, Brazil

November 24, 2019

A string of bad luck, poor timing and late decision making resulted in a pretty turbulent few weeks for us in Northern Brazil. These past two weeks saw us leaving Taiba and heading north still, all the way to Jericoacoara (Jeri). … More From larceny to love in Jericoacoara, Brazil

Jericoacoara 🌬 the windy north. If you’ve got a spare few minutes, take a read of this weeks blog. We overcame some troubled waters in North Brazil, from getting ripped off, to double booked, to non refundable. Thankfully it all worked out with plenty of time to soak up as much samba, cachaça, açaí, sea and sun as we could. Hope to see you over at @avaycay soon 🥥🌴💦
Wondering where we are? 📍 For the last three weeks I’ve been surfing, writing, reading and yoga-ing in the teeny town of Taiba on the north coast of Brazil. Mat was kite surfing all along the coast, trying his best at jumping. The town of Taiba seemed to survive on Pizza, Fish and Açaí, I didn’t mind one bit. I rather enjoyed getting to know the locals in town and all I can say is: The slow life, is a good life.
Now that’s what I call a 3 o-clock craving!! #guava Waiting to see if the wind, surf and swell are cooperating for an afternoon surf 🏄‍♀️ In the mean time, can we please appreciate this wall colour? #edible
We have arrived in BRAZIL 🇧🇷!! Can’t wait to samba 💃 and caipirinha 🍸 and consume gallons of coffee ☕️ and soak up the city 🏢 that holds the same number of people as the whole island of Australia 🐨 Bom Dia São Paulo 👋
As we slowly approach the 6-month-mark of our travels. I often find myself getting too caught up with what’s coming up that I can easily forget all the wonderful places we’ve been. Our time in Africa was so special, I’m awfully sad to say goodbye to all the friends we met along the way. Here’s where I’m going to take a few days off social media and say a little Totsiens (Goodbye) and see you soon!
For the last month we’ve based ourselves in Plettenberg Bay on the cape of South Africa. It’s been an unreal time to get to know the locals, understand the culture, get into a routine and most importantly chill out!!! After being on the road for 5 1/2 months, it must sound absurd that we’d need down time - but believe me, we really did. I’ll elaborate more on the blog this week. Today is our last day hanging out with the doggos and words can’t express how much I’m going to miss them. Please remind me when I get home to get a dog 🙏🏼
